Steps To Obtain Your Alberta Security License
Whether you are onboarding with Spillett Security or exploring a career in the industry, obtaining your Alberta Security License is an important first step. The information below provides an overview of the requirements, process, and key info to help you get started.
-
Sign Up: Enroll in the ABST course using this link: ABST Training Signup.
Duration: The course takes approximately 40 hours to complete, but the time required may vary. Some individuals complete it within a few days.
Cost: $149 plus GST (subject to change).
-
Typically, a valid criminal record check with a vulnerable sector search and local police database search is required to begin your role. Please note:
Start Immediately: Do not wait until after completing the ABST course to begin the criminal record check process. As soon as you start the ABST course, visit your local RCMP station to obtain your criminal record check. This ensures both processes can run in parallel and minimizes delays.
Validity: The record check is valid for 90 days. To avoid needing another check, ensure that you complete the ABST course promptly so that your record check remains valid when you apply for your license.
Cost: $35 (subject to change).
